The celebration was organised by the UN Information Centre for India and Bhutan, in cooperation with  Alliance Française the embassies of Poland, Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Israel and the United States of America under the theme „Holocaust Remembrance: The Power of Individual Action”. Ambassador of Poland to India Mr Tomasz Łukaszuk paid homage to all the victims of the Holocaust atrocities and recalled Poles who helped Jews in the occupied Poland, the Polish Righteous Among the Nations who selflessly provided help to Jews during World War II as they faced extermination at the hands of the Nazi German authorities. “Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire” – this quote from the Talmud is inscribed on the medals which are awarded to the Righteous. So far, the Righteous Among the Nations title was awarded to more than 26,000 people, including over 6,600 Poles. Further, Ambassador of Poland also cautioned against the risk stemming from the wrongful memory codes which unjustly turn the victims of the Holocaust into its perpetrators.
